The new e-Rupi cashless vouchers will deal with the UPI system and enable individuals to access certain services without the need for physical communication. This means that both a service and a consumer service provider can manage the vouchers with no physical interface, the government said on Monday. These coupons can be designated to people and provide access to government systems connected to medication and drug distribution, fertilizer subsidies, and TB eradication programs. What’s even more, the government asserts that e-Rupi will also ensure a watertight shipment of welfare services in the country.

 

What is the e-RUPI?

 

“Thee-RUPI is a contactless and also cashless instrument for electronic payment. It is a QR code or SMS string-based e-Voucher, which is provided to the mobile of the beneficiaries,” the government’s PIB said in a statement on Saturday. “The customers of this seamless one-time payment mechanism will certainly be able to redeem the voucher without a card, electronic repayments app or internet banking access at the service provider.” The Prime Minister will introduce the electronic coupon on Monday, August 2, at 4:30 PM using videoconferencing.
